The dining scene here is a feast for the senses-try the fresh local fish at the rooftop bar while soaking in the views! Plus, the staff's warmth makes you feel as if you've got family in Kathmandu. The gorgeous gardens are a lush retreat from the bustling streets, perfect for chillin' out after a day of adventures.
Even though my initial room had twin beds instead of the booked double, the upgrade to a spacious suite was a win. The bathroom setup was a bit tricky, especially in the midnight hour. Still, the charm of the original building made up for it.

Families should consider this hotel but be cautious
The garden is an oasis , the kids loved playing while I sipped my coffee. And let me tell you , the staff were genuinely nice , offering advice on local sites and even some extra treats for the little ones.
It wasn't cheap , but acceptable for a family with kids.

great stay with minor hiccups
The garden and bar created a serene escape from the city's hustle. The staff was attentive, ensuring all needs were met. The room had convenient tea-making facilities and complimentary bottled water, appreciated.
The breakfast options were somewhat basic for the price.

The gardens were a lovely retreat for my family after long days exploring Kathmandu. The staff was cute. The food was delicious, especially the breakfast buffet, which everyone enjoyed.
In my wife's opinion, the bathroom could use updates to better accommodate family needs.

There is both a vitality in the KGH that one only finds in the Grand Hotels of Europe. The clientele is from all over the world, including Swiss, Americans, French, Italians, Chinese, Japanese, etc. They are all bound by the desire to Trek in the highest mountains in the world. The hotel lobby is a beehive of activity. At the same time, the gardens of the KGH provide a secluded and peaceful place for one to rest, relax, and contemplate life. It is this juxtaposition of vitality and relaxation that makes the hotel so attractive. Its location is in the center of Thamel and there is no better location. Excellent value for the price of the rooms. We have stayed at other hotels in Kathmandu, and this is the place to stay.

My friend and myself really enjoyed the central location of the Kathmandu Guest House as we did a lot of exploring of the city. Access to taxis and bus services were easy and the hotel had a magnificent garden to scape the hive of activity outside the gates. We felt very safe and secure.
We had booked a room with a balcony but ended up in a room without one. Massage was a bit rough.

Location in the heart of Thamel. Nice friendly staff. Nice outdoor restaurant and pleasant enclosed garden which is an island of tranquility in Thamel district of Kathmandu.
Sometimes noisy adjacent disco sessions.
